Details of a placemaking project nearing completion.

John James Village

The John James Village in Garran provides free, purpose-built, accommodation for the Leukaemia Foundation to support regional blood cancer patients in their time of need while undergoing treatment at the Canberra Hospital. We were engaged to deliver a full placemaking package including a sculptural donor wall and wayfinding signage.

Site of the day!

Mindsparkle Magazine promotes the most beautiful and inspiring projects in the fields of Design, Websites and Videos. They value timeless over trendy, few over many and plain over fancy — and we couldn't ask for a better way to see out 2016 than to be recognised with Site of the day on their beautiful website. Thanks Mindsparkle Magazine.

No Name Lane

The second stage of our signage package for Morris Property Group’s No Name Lane in Canberra City has come to life in neon — just in time for Christmas!

Capital Airport Group

When the Canberra International Airport asked us to transform a dead space within their new terminal and promote leasing opportunities within the precinct, we channeled our inner hipster and created a shared work hub...dead space no longer, this little haven now buzzes 24-7!

Bloc Haus

These guys are definitely boulder than most. BlocHaus is Canberra’s new bouldering gym opening in early 2017. The gym has been a long-time dream of avid climbers who've worked hard with a range of excited and talented people across the globe to make the gym a reality.

Swell Cafe

We guarantee the best cup of coffee you've ever had, or your second cup free!

No Name Lane

The brainchild of Morris Property Group and designed by Cox Architects, No Name Lane brings a little bit of Melbourne to the heart of Canberra.

Part conference, part festival, all arts! Artlands Dubbo in October 2016 was the place to be for regional arts practitioners nationwide. This national conference with an international program was a huge success, with Swell contributing brand, website, publications and environmental branding.

New Merch

Swell is on a quest to raise $20k to donate to the Cure Brain Cancer foundation. We've now had a couple of close encounters with this terrible disease: back in 2010, Col's son had a (fortunately benign) brain tumour removed; we then sponsored Brainstorm for a Cure, a local charity event created by Sarah Mamalai, a stage 5 brain cancer survivor (one of few) and lastly, in 2016, Swell lost a strong friend and advocate in Alastair Swayn, one of Canberra's most successful architects.

We've started slowly by producing water bottles and cycling jerseys and selling these for $5 and $50 respectively (bargain) — basically, we fund the production and all proceeds (that's 100%) go straight into our fund managed (pro bono!) by Grant Alleyn, Director of Allegra Wealth. Further fund raising will centre around events (cycling and running), sales of GroundSwell branded coffee and corporate donations. A website is coming, so stay tuned and let's help beat this thing!
